My name is Marie Gaarden Bresson, and I am a Totum body therapist with a previous university background. For many years, I have supplemented my analytical and logical skills with meditation, strength training, and yoga after experiencing long-term effects from concussions. I've lived abroad, including more than 2 years in the U.S., so I'm able to help you in English.
In my early thirties, while engaged in a demanding PhD program, I was quite stressed and suffered from significant sleep issues when I encountered a misaligned metal plate while cycling. Within a couple of years, I sustained two additional, minor concussions.
I told myself that headaches were a sign that I was damaging my brain, and I feared that the headaches might become chronic, so I needed to avoid pain—after all, it was "dangerous." This belief stemmed from what I had researched online and was misinterpreted or even directly imposed by various therapists.
I tried to fight it as best as I could, but unfortunately, I was struggling in completely the wrong direction. Fewer stimuli and inputs made my condition worse and worse.
My low point came when I spent all day long in darkness, and even leaving my bed triggered a strong physical reaction.
I began to improve only when I re-entered life, starting with small, no tiny, steps.
With a growing understanding that restlessness and pain were not dangerous, I found my way forward.
It has not been a straightforward journey for me, but I have gathered a wealth of experiences and knowledge, and I have successfully overcome daily headaches and now enjoy a much more pain-free life.
Through my deep understanding of pain, body therapy, and both physical and mental training, I’ve found immense freedom. I respect the physical sensations that arise, and I now approach them constructively, allowing me to accept and adapt to changes as needed.
Now, I use all my experiences and knowledge to help people who are in similar situations, where pain has become a draining focal point, or where anxiety and sadness have taken over. This is because I could not find the right help myself when I needed it the most.
"Can you help again?
You resolved my headache. It has never returned."
- Ulla, who suffered strong headaches after hitting her head.
